RoyScot Larch is able to provide finance for whatever type of inland waterways boat you want to buy, be it a narrowboat, Dutch barge or purpose-built houseboat.

We provide finance for both those wishing to live aboard their boat and for those with leisure use in mind.

Finance is available for new and previously owned vessels, along with those considering commissioning the building of a new boat from a boat-builder where we can normally provide finance for the construction of the boat as well as for the finished product.

RoyScot Larch exhibits at many of the inland waterway related shows, exhibitions and festivals. Keep an eye on our News page for details of forthcoming events.

Narrowboats & Widebeam Craft

Liveaboard

RoyScot Larch are the UK’s leading lender to those people wanting to live aboard their narrowboats and widebeam barges. We can finance both new and used boats and we will consider loans of up to 80% of the cost of new narrowboats and up to 75% of the value of used narrowboats. Repayment periods of up to 15 years are available. People wishing to use their narrowboat residentially will need to arrange a permanent mooring rather than continually cruise the canals and waterways of the UK!

Leisure Users

Again RoyScot Larch can provide loans of up to 80% of the cost of a new narrowboat or widebeam craft for the leisure user with repayment terms of up to 10 years. For those thinking about fitting out their own new narrowboats and widebeam barges the minimum specification we will consider financing is a lined sailaway. Under certain circumstances we can offer your boatbuilder stage payments if you are having a new narrowboat built. For details of this talk to Matt Ashmall, Head of Marine Finance.

For both residential and leisure users we can offer a choice of variable interest rates or alternatively interest rates fixed for the full term of the loan.

Dutch Barges & Purposebuilt Houseboats

As well as more conventional inland waterways boats RoyScot Larch also finance traditional Dutch Barges as well as converted barges for residential use and puropsebuilt houseboats. For the residential user loans of up to 75% of the value of the boat are available over periods of up to 15 years.

In the majority of cases we can offer a choice of variable interest rates or alternatively interest rates fixed for the full term of the loan. In the case of some houseboats (which don’t conform to the definition of a navigable vessel) only fixed rate facilities are available.

Loans For Other Purposes, Secured Against Your Boat

If you already own a narrowboat or barge you may be able to use it as security to arrange a loan through RoyScot Larch. RoyScot Larch will consider advancing a loan secured against your boat where the loan proceeds are to be used in connection with the boat, perhaps acquiring moorings, refurbishment or refitting. We will also consider re-financing your boat for if you have other loans secured against it or have taken personal loans to finance the purchase.

We can offer a choice of variable interest rates or alternatively interest rates fixed for the full term of the loan.
